Our last full day in Madrid. We have seen so much and yet, there is few things we didnt explore the way we wanted. First stop for the day is the Retiro Park - kind of ‘Central Park’ of Madrid (although he Retiro Park is older than New York’s Central Park). Simply stunning, brilliant weather, perfect to sit in such beautiful park, with a nice cup of cafe con leche and watch the world pass by. At this point i’d like to say that during the whole visit in Madrid i didn't have one bad cup of coffee !!! How come when back home in Britain you hardly can find a decent (not saying good) cup of coffee ????
Later on we did another walk through the old part of Madrid and finally we have found a great food place. Passing by a very small old fashioned pub my hubby suggested to have beer here as it looked busy. Before we knew it we were eating great tapas and drinking canias. The place is called ‘Casa Alberto’. If you ever are in Madrid and looking for a nice Spanish place to be and eat I recommend Casa Alberto (calle Huertas 18)
In the evening we have decided to finally explore a little bit of Madrid gay scene. We didn’t really have a great expectations as it was a middle of the week. As we were based in Chueca most of the gay bars and restaurants were really close. We walked a bit around trying to get the atmosphere a little, however there wasn’t much happening. I can imagine the place being very busy during the weekend, but Thursday night was very quiet. Few beers in Bears Bar, then HOT Bar and back to the hotel. Time for bed as I was getting slightly dizzy....
